Joshua Spurr

Lion President

I was born in 1999 and raised in Maltby. In my younger years I was Educated at Crags community school and Maltby Academy and then went onto study Business and Information Technology at MA Sixth Form. After my studies in Maltby, I moved to York in 2017 to pursue my career in hospitality, were i worked in the Reception and Reservations department for a large chain hotel in the city centre of York. Now back in my home town of Maltby, I work at a local hotel, and hope to be there for many years

I came across the Maltby and Rother Valley Lions in late November of 2016 when I found there Facebook page and thought this was something I would enjoy, and would love to be involved in. Then a few emails and a quick phone conversations later I found myself at the annual carol concert, which was an amazing day. But my highlight of working with the lions so far has to be the look on the children’s face when Santa pays them a visit. I look forward to many more years with the Lions. I was then asked by the Club President if I would like to join the Lions Club and become a member which was an offer that I couldn’t refuse. After joining the Lions as a member in February 2017, I now find myself in charge or planning and organizing social events.

In my spare time I volunteer for a local theatre school, Gillian Banks Theatre School. This is also a very challenging but worthwhile job. It’s great to see the older and younger students put on an amazing show and feel so great about it.
